How I Stopped My Gum Recession
A mineral-centric approach to oral health and remineralization
Over the last year, I’ve been intentionally prioritizing something that once felt frustrating and defeating for me: my oral health.
I have a long history of dental challenges — including gum recession that, at one point, felt progressive and completely out of my control. At one stage it progressed so far that I had to undergo a gum graft procedure, where tissue is scraped from the roof of your mouth and grafted onto the gums. It’s painful, uncomfortable, and something I never want to go through again.
That experience was a major wake-up call for me.
Instead of viewing my teeth and gums in isolation, I began approaching them the same way I approach hormones and metabolism: through a mineral-centric, cellular lens.
Because teeth are not static structures. They are living tissue.
And remineralization isn’t about brushing harder or relying on stronger chemicals — it’s about whether the body has the mineral foundation and bioenergetic capacity to rebuild and maintain tissue.
Teeth Are Living Tissue
We often think of teeth as fixed, lifeless structures — something that can only decay or be repaired with dental work.
But biologically, teeth are dynamic tissues constantly undergoing demineralization and remineralization.
Every day minerals move in and out of our enamel and dentin. When the body has the right conditions, minerals can be redeposited into the tooth structure, strengthening and repairing it.
But when the body is depleted or stressed, the opposite occurs.
This is when we begin to see:
• Gum recession
• Tooth sensitivity
• Cavities
• Weak enamel
• Inflamed or bleeding gums
The mouth is often one of the first places the body reflects deeper metabolic imbalances.
What Is Required for Tooth Remineralization?
Healthy teeth require far more than topical products.
They depend on a network of minerals, connective tissue integrity, microbial balance, and cellular energy.
Key factors include:
Adequate calcium and phosphorus delivery
These minerals form the structural backbone of tooth enamel and dentin.
Magnesium regulation
Magnesium helps regulate where calcium goes in the body and supports mineral balance.
Silica for connective tissue strength
Silica supports the connective tissues that anchor gums and teeth.
Proper copper balance
Copper supports collagen production and blood flow to gum tissue.
A resilient oral microbiome
The mouth contains a delicate microbial ecosystem that harsh products can disrupt.
Strong cellular energy production
Repair processes require energy. When mitochondrial function is low, tissue repair slows.
When the body is depleted or stressed, the mouth reflects it quickly. Gums thin, enamel weakens, and sensitivity increases.
My Foundational Oral Health Habits
For years I’ve maintained several foundational oral health practices:
• Daily coconut oil pulling
• Tongue scraping to reduce bacterial load
• Using a water flosser to gently stimulate and clean the gums
• Removing synthetic, harsh chemical-based oral care products
And of course, this is all built on top of a holistic lifestyle and strong mineral foundation — prioritizing nutrient-dense foods, mineral balance, circadian rhythms, and supporting overall cellular health.
These practices created a strong baseline — and they absolutely matter.
Because when we consistently support the body with the nutrients and rhythms it needs, we begin nourishing from the cell up — and even our teeth respond to that deeper level of care.
But over the past year, I layered in deeper mineral and cellular support, and that’s when things really began to shift.
What I Added
1. Cell Salts (Tissue Salts)
For six months I consistently used cell salts, which are micro-dosed mineral compounds that support mineral transport and utilization at the cellular level.
Unlike high-dose supplements, they work more through signaling and mineral balance.
The three I focused on were:
Calcarea Phosphorica (Cal Phos)
Supports calcium and phosphorus metabolism.
Magnesia Phosphorica (Mag Phos)
Supports magnesium balance and nerve signaling.
Silicea
Strengthens connective tissue, including gum structure.
Over time I noticed less sensitivity and stronger gum integrity.
I personally used the Hyland’s brand, which is easy to find online.
2. Phototherapy Patches
Another tool that I believe played a massive role was phototherapy patches. These have been the tool I’ve been using to really support cellular signaling and repair.
These patches reflect the body’s own infrared light back into the skin, stimulating the production of copper peptides (GHK-Cu) and enhancing cellular repair signaling.
Copper peptides are involved in:
• Collagen production
• Tissue regeneration
• Stem cell signaling
• Cellular communication
Since gum tissue is collagen-rich and highly vascular, supporting copper peptide activity can directly support gum resilience and regeneration.
After almost a year of consistent use, I truly believe this has been one of the tools that helped move the needle most in my cellular health and mineral foundation. You can read more about the X39 patch (stem cell patch) here and my own story using them here. 3. Mineral-Rich, Non-Toxic Oral Care
Topically, I also switched to mineral-rich, non-toxic oral care products.
Many conventional products contain synthetic ingredients that can disrupt the oral microbiome.
I now use products from Bliss Energetics, which are herbal and mineral-based and designed to support the oral microbiome rather than disrupt it. I specifically used their toothpaste, Primal Puddy, and Gum Massage oil.

What I’m Seeing Now
Here’s the part that still amazes me.
I am no longer seeing progressive gum recession.
In fact, it truly appears that my gums are beginning to strengthen and regrow.
I’m also watching a cavity — one I intentionally chose not to fill — appear to be getting smaller.
While everyone’s situation is different, this experience has reinforced something I deeply believe:
When we nourish the body from the cell up, the body often has an incredible ability to repair.
Even our teeth respond.
